What is Botox?

Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves. The effects last about three to twelve months, depending on what you are treating.

Am I a good candidate for Botox?

If you are over the age of 18, are not allergic to any Botox ingredients, and have realistic expectations, Botox may be for you. Dr. Sayeg will ask you about your goals to determine where to administer Botox Cosmetic. To do this, he may examine your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area. The location, size, and use of the muscles that create furrow between your brows can vary among individuals

Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to 4 months. Individual results may vary.

How long is recovery from Botox?

The most common side effects are pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. You could also have flu-like symptoms, headache, and upset stomach. Injections in the face may also cause temporary drooping eyelids. You should not use Botox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
