What is TUBA?
Trans-umbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) is a type of breast augmentation in which breast implants are placed through an incision at the navel rather than the chest.
TUBA can only be performed using saline implants. Once the implants are placed in the breast area, Dr. Sayeg will fill them with saline to create the desired shape. Saline implants are the only permissible implant to be used in the TUBA method, as silicone implants cannot be compressed small enough to fit through the 2 cm opening in the navel. The advantage of using the TUBA method is that the scar is produced in the navel, and cannot be seen.
Am I a good candidate for Trans-umbilical breast augmentation?
The TUBA technique is suitable for women who wish to augment their breasts with saline implants.
How long is the recovery from Trans-umbilical breast augmentation?
Depending upon the daily physical activity, you can resume your normal life activities in about a week. Dr. Sayeg recommends that you do not exercise or engage in strenuous physical activities for about 6 weeks. Moreover, during the initial convalescence, he encourages you to regularly exercise (flex and move) your arms to alleviate pain and discomfort. He may also prescribe pain medication to help keep you comfortable during the healing process.
